With an aesthetic rooted in British heritage yet strikingly contemporary, Tom Dixon’s furniture, lighting, and accessories are celebrated worldwide for their pioneering use of materials and techniques. Each piece embodies a spirit of innovation, craftsmanship, and originality.
At the helm is Tom Dixon himself, a restless innovator whose journey began in the 1980s crafting welded salvage furniture. Rising to prominence as a maverick designer, he created the iconic ‘S’ Chair while collaborating with Italian design powerhouse Cappellini. Later, as Creative Director at Habitat, Tom infused the brand with new energy while honouring Terence Conran’s vision of accessible, modern design. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including an OBE, Designer of the Year at Maison & Objet, the London Design Medal, and a silver medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
In 2007, Tom launched Design Research Studio, the brand’s in-house innovation agency, which has delivered projects across the globe—from transforming Virgin Voyages’ cruise interiors to redesigning Paris’s legendary Drugstore Brasserie, and creating The Manzoni in Milan, a dynamic combination of restaurant, shop, and office.
The brand’s headquarters, The Coal Office in London’s King’s Cross, is more than an office—it’s a hub of creativity, retail, and hospitality, reflecting the brand’s ethos of blending design with experience.
